Jott for iPhone released (finally)

February 18, 2009

All,
After a long wait, the new Jott for iPhone app is (finally) up in the App Store. Download it here. The iPhone page for the web site should be updated by the end of the day today, but please download it now and leave any positive feedback in the App Store if you think we’ve done a decent job. Again, can’t thank you enough for your patience around this. Don’t forget that the annual discount was extended through the end of February (read the prior posts for instructions there).

Enjoy!

  1. Cool. Love jott.com. I like this app in the 1.0 version so Ill see what is on 2.0 — please keep innovating on it though as its the integration between all these that is great. I esp love the link to my Google calendar for both appts and voicemail.

  6. Just installed the new app and uninstalled the old one. The new one doesn’t work and I can’t go back to the old one. I am jottless. :-(

For the techs, I am running v2.1 (5F136) that is jailbroken and has very few apps installed right now.

  7. Version 2.0 won’t work as well for me since I’m mostly concerned about lists. Before I could put my most used lists in the Dock area. I don’t see a way to do that in the new version, nor do I see a way to put those frequently used lists at the top. I’ll be keeping the previous version on my iPhone.

  8. Looks awesome!

Glad to see my links in the app, like RTM.

I did notice that it did not show up as up upgrade for my old app. I had to download it as new and delete the old one. Not sure if others will experience that.

  9. Jott rocks and the iPhone app is super! Thanks for making a great service better. I’ll be changing my month-to-month to an annual plan.

  12. Totally groovin’ on the new version. It really fills a gap in the “enter once, use many” area of calendaring, reminding and communicating.

Now, when I need to set an important date on my calendar, I can Jott Link it to my Google Apps calendar (works great for my own domain - nice!), get a text message reminder later, and quickly email the details to any of my contacts, all from the iPhone. Sweet!

I’m bragging on this app to everyone who will listen. Best money you can spend on turbo-charging the iPhone experience. Color me happy.

  13. Been a long time (paid) Jott user and I really miss the easy method to enter a jott note that was taken from the newest button. Used to be all I had to do (as I was driving, for example) was to touch the screen anywhere, start taking, stop talking, touch the screen anywhere, and I was done. Now I have to navigate through a series of small buttons to accomplish the same thing.

I understand how all the new functionality might be useful and I would welcome your including an “express” mode that brought back the original, easy and safe to use interface.

  14. Fantastic upgrade.

A few quibbles, but I moved my GTD system back to Jott-only, based on the strength of the new iPhone app.

Biggest requests would be, following Bob’s request, restoring the option for one-touch Jotting. That, and be easily able to see to which list/folder one is Jotting.

Other than that, it’s a homerun.

  15. I love my Jott app (BTW, running it perfectly on OS3 beta 5) and use it constantly while driving to take notes.

One suggestion - the most common action (create new jott) is kind of buried. The very small “New” button, requiring you to select ‘Voice’, then ‘Confirm Upload’ button. Any way to get an option (or a separate Jott Lite app) that is much simpler for those of us who mostly Jott ourselves?

  16. I also would appreciate the ablility for one-touch voice jotting… having to navigate thru the menus is a barrier that doesn’t need to be there for the majority of my jott useage.
