Water-repellent Down jackets

A water-repellent down jacket effectively repels surface water without being totally waterproof, making it more breathable.
It's a good compromise between protection against light rain and everyday thermal comfort.

Water repellency prevents water from temporarily penetrating the fabric, while a waterproof down jacket has sealed membranes or seams to withstand prolonged rain.
Water-repellent down jackets are therefore light and more flexible, but less suited to extreme conditions.

Wash at 30°C with a special detergent for technical textiles (without fabric softener), then tumble-dry at low temperature to revive the water-repellent effect.
You can also apply a water-repellent spray after washing, once the fabric is thoroughly dry.

Yes, it's ideal for urban use or hiking in dry or changeable weather.
On the other hand, for skiing or prolonged exposure to snow and rain, a waterproof model with membrane will be more suitable.
